History

PCDC dba Together for Resilient Youth (TRY) (501c3) is a community-based grassroots coalition founded in 2000 by Pastor C. Earl Boone and Dr. Wanda Boone.  Relationship building has been key to the success of TRY. TRY Coalition is made up of almost all formal and informal leaders in the counties that we support and work in.

Our success is due to cooperation and collaboration among individuals, groups and/or sectors of each community. Each group and individual retain their identity, where each agree to work together toward a common goal of building a safe and healthy community.

TRY uses environmental strategies and the public health model to prevent substance use, decrease the impact of trauma and increase resilience among communities including minority populations.

TRY began its work in Durham and now reaches internationally to Kenya.
